What role do you play in your child’s life?

I boarded a train to head to work this morning, being a Monday, it is expected that we tend to oversleep and hence not be able to make it to work in time if we choose the bus. For this reason, we were really full.  I opened my Bible and started reading from the book of John. I started from chapter 1. On completion, I got an insight to continue. In Chapter 2, Jesus performed his very first miracle.

It was at a wedding in Galilee. To be precise, at a place called Cana. There was much celebrations and as we know, food is mostly accompanied with drinks.  Let me quote from the NIV Bible.  John

Chapter 2:1-5

On the third day, a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

These verses made me think and reflect what I know about my son that if anybody asked me I would answer without hesitation. Surprisingly, there are a lot of things that I do not know. Jesus’ mother was truly an exceptional woman. She believed in her son, the son was special, the son was extra ordinary. Even though Jesus tried to deny that it his time was not yet, the mother knew that he could do it. Later on we see Jesus changing water into wine!

As a parent, what role are you playing in your child’s life, do you know him/her inside out?  Reflect on it and have a wonderful day.
