HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD

HE WHO BELONGS TO GOD HEARS WHAT GOD SAYS, THE REASON YOU DO NOT HEAR IS YOU DO NOT BELONG TO GOD” JOHN 8:47
Our relationship with God depends upon our obedience to His commands. We get to know the Lord’s commands through:
a)      Reading God’s word.
b)     Studying God’s word.
c)      Meditating on God’s word.
d)     Interpreting it by the help of the Holy Spirit.
e)      Applying it in our daily lives.
f)       Prayer.
g)      Praise.
h)     Worship.
God does not speak contrary to His words.  He will not tell you to do something that is contrary to what is written in His word. For example, God will not tell you to murder while the Ten Commandments forbid that action. In Numbers 23:19 says that God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?

HOW DOES GOD SPEAK
In the Old Testament, God spoke to people in an audible voice beginning with our first parents: Adam and Eve this continues  even in the New Testament where He spoke during Jesus baptism and the transfiguration. There are various ways which God uses to speak to us
a)     Circumstances
God is always at work around us and uses events and situations around us to reveal His purpose and plan for us. In 2 Kings 6:15-17, “ When the servant of the man of God(Elisha’s servant-Gehazi) got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh ,my God what shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them. And Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
I just want to encourage you that the next time you are in tough situation, ask the Lord to open your eyes so that you can see the situation from His perspective.
b)     Angels
These are Immortal heavenly beings used as God’s messengers.
Zechariah 4:4- I asked the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?”
Genesis 16:9-Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.”
Matthew 28:5-The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.”
Luke 1:11- Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
Acts 8:26- Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road-the desert road-that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza,”
